The eCourts Services App allows users to access information related to cases filed in the subordinate courts and most high courts in the country. Users can select whether they want to search for information on district courts, high courts, or both. The app is useful to citizens, litigants, lawyers, police, government agencies, and institutional litigants, with services listed under different captions. These captions include Search by CNR, Case Status, Cause List, Calendar, and My Cases.

By entering a CNR, users can get the current status and details of a case. Case status can also be searched by variables such as case number, party name, filing number, FIR number, advocate name, relevant act of the case, and case type. All of these options are shown in the app with identifiable separate icons under the Case Status tab.

Initial search results of case status display the case number and names of parties. Once the link of the case number is clicked, the current case status and entire history of the case are displayed with expandable view captions. These include information on case details, case status, petitioner, respondent, acts, history of case hearing, judgment and order, and transfer details.

Users are able to save cases of interest, which will be shown under the My Cases tab, and today's cases button provides the facility to view only the day's listed cases from all cases saved under My Cases. Users can also remove cases or update information saved under My Cases by using the refresh button. Additionally, the app provides facilities like a calendar, caveat search, and court complex location on map. Backup functionality is also provided to take backup of saved cases on mobile devices in text file format, and data can be restored in the My Cases tab by using the import option.

CNR is a unique number assigned to each case filed in district and taluka courts in the country, through the case information system. Simply by entering the CNR, one can get the current status and details of the case.

What information can be searched for in the case status tab?
Case status can be searched by various options like case number, party name, filing number, FIR number, advocate name, relevant act of the case, and case type. All above options are shown in the app with identifiable separate icons under the case status tab.

What information is displayed in the case details caption?
The case details caption shows information of the case type, filing number, filing date, registration number, registration date, and CNR number.

What information is displayed in the case status option?
The case status option shows information of the first hearing date, next hearing date, state of case, court number, and designation of judge.

What are expandable view captions?
Expandable view captions are captions that can be viewed when the user clicks on any of these captions. They include Petitioner and Advocate, Respondent and Advocate, Acts, History of Case Hearing, Judgment and Order, and Transfer Details.

What is today's cases button?
Today's cases button shown under my cases tab provides the facility to view only today's listed cases from all cases saved under my cases. One can select another date to see the cases listed on the selected date.

What is the backup facility on the app?
The backup facility is provided to take backup of saved cases on a mobile device. It includes exporting the backup in text file format on the device and restoring it using the import option in the My Cases tab.

eCourts Services Tips and Tricks

Ensure that you have configured the app settings according to your requirements if you wish to use it for both district and high courts, or just one of them.

eCourts Services App is useful for Citizens, Litigants, Lawyers, Police, Government Agencies and other Institutional Litigants. It provides information related to Cases filed in the Subordinate courts and most of the High Courts in the country.

There are different services provided in the App under various captions such as the Search by CNR, Case Status, Cause List, Calendar and My Cases.

If you have a CNR number, you can check the current status and details of the case simply by entering it in the app. The Case Status can be searched by various options like Case Number, Party Name, Filing Number, FIR Number, Advocate Name, Relevant Act of the Case and Case Type. These options can be easily found under the Case Status tab which is identified through a recognizable icon.

The app displays an initial search result of case status with the Case Number and names of parties. If you click on the link of the case number, the current case status and entire history of the case is displayed with expandable view captions.

The Case Details caption shows information about the Case Type, Filing Number, Filing Date, Registration Number, Registration Date and CNR Number.

The Case Status Option shows information about the First Hearing Date, Next Hearing Date, State of Case, Court Number and Designation of Judge.

Expandable view captions such as Petitioner and Advocate, Respondent and Advocate, Acts, History of Case Hearing, Judgment and Order, Transfer Details can be viewed when user clicks any of these expandable captions.

The History of Case Hearing caption shows the entire history of the case from the first date of hearing to the current date of hearing. If you click on the date of hearing shown in the form of a link, it will show the business recorded on the clicked date.

The Judgment and Order caption shows links to all judgments and orders passed and uploaded in the selected case.

The “Add Case” button can be seen while viewing the case history, on the top right corner. Any case can be saved with the help of Add Case button. Once a case is added, the button changes its appearance and caption to Saved Case.

To search for information under the Advocate option in the Case Status tab, you can search using the name of the Advocate or their Bar Code. Entering the Bar Code of any advocate registered with the system generates a list of all cases in which the advocate is associated.

The Date Case List option generates a cause list of all cases of the Advocate listed before all courts in the Complex.

A litigant or lawyer can save all cases of interest and view them under the My Cases tab. Today’s Cases button shown under My Cases tab provides the facility to view only today’s listed cases from all cases saved under My Cases. One can select another date to see the cases listed on the selected date.

When case details are accessed through My Cases, it gives an option to “Remove Case”.

A Refresh button is given adjacent to Today’s Cases to update the information saved under My Cases.

If any case is not updated or refreshed because of the connection issue, the app will show this information as “connection error”.

The Cause List option generates a cause list of the selected court.

Data backup facility is provided to take backup of saved cases on the mobile device. This can be done using the Export option which takes backup in text format or the Import option which restores data in My Cases tab.

The app also provides useful features such as the calendar, caveat search, and court complex location on Map.
